Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María is one of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in Chile. It owes its origins to the idea of the visionary businessman Federico Santa María who created an institution of higher learning that would transform the teaching of science and technology in Chile.

The University created in 2008, the Multidisciplinary Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CMITT), which is an organization focused on applied research and the transfer of technology to industry.

The Center for Technological Innovation in High Performance Computing (CTI-HPC) is one of the centres belonging to CMITT involved in the short-term implementation of supercomputing resources in order to solve high impact business and social problems.
